New Jersey band The Take makes waves in the Valley

If I had to choose a favorite, mine would be "Drift Away," which has an edgier sound than The Take's signature style. With its rugged beats and hauntingly beautiful refrain, this track definitely stands apart from the rest of the EP-in a refreshingly great way.
Tectonic draws to a close with a seven-minute ballad "Without Words." A surprising twist to finish off the track list, this song starts out slow with beautiful acoustics and morphs into this power anthem that will be stuck in your head long after the EP ends: "We are waiting for the Equation for us to equal one/ With high hopes we'll swallow the pain that is to follow to find equilibrium."
It is difficult to do justice to the true talent that The Take shows off on Tectonic. Filled with surprises and oozing versatility, this EP radiates a sound that is fresh and original among the flat-lined talent on the musical horizon. Truly taking mainstream rock in new directions, this group of guys has the chops to make it big someday.
Look for The Take at local spots in the Valley, and be ready for them to start popping up more and more. For this five-some, it's just the beginning-and a stellar beginning at that.
